Double Wham Thank You Ma'am!

I received several messages from customers who asked me to extend my 50% off sale I had last Saturday. Sadly, some were out of town due to New Year's and they were unable to attend. After thinking about it I decided to do something extra fun.  Keep reading.....

Not only is Peapods going to have a great sale on all our clothing & shoes with up to 75% off savings, BUT to celebrate a big announcement regarding my photography business, your name will also be entered for a FREE portrait session which includes no sitting fee and one free 8x10. YAY!!!! When the winner's name is announced, so will my exciting news.

That's why I'm calling this the "Double Wham Thank You Ma'am Sale"!
Here's how it works:
1. Select your clothing & shoes purchases from our fantastic selection.
2. Put your hand in the fancy bowl, close your beautiful peepers, and pick a ticket from the bowl.
Ticket amounts vary from 30% all the way to 75% off! That's some awesome savings right there.
3. Read what it says and then jump up and down with joy at the savings you just picked.
4. Write your name and contact info on the back of your savings ticket and drop it in the other fancy
    bowl:)
5. While your doing that Ms. Peapods will be deducting your savings off your purchase.
6. Winner of the portrait session will be announced in 1 week.
If you win you will be jumping up and down with joy again and you will then understand
why I named this sale the "Double Wham Thank You Ma'am Sale"
Sale starts tomorrow, Thurs January 5th and ends Saturday Jan 7th
Hours are Thurs & Fri 10:30-2:30 & Sat 10-2
See you at Peapods!!!

It's 2012 & I'm Happy About It!!!

A new year means a new start or new goals for most. As I sit here writing down my goals for 2012,
I realize how different this year's list is compared to last year's. Last year I primarily just wanted to focus on getting through the year in peace. This year I'm listing detailed goals that I WILL stick to and work on.

Here are a few professional goals: There will be some positive changes/restructuring at Peapods. Teacup Cottage will see some absolutely cool additions & my photography business will have some very unique & innovative changes. Needless to say I'm very excited about 2012.

On a personal note, aside from self improvement goals such as praying more & saying I love you more, I've also resolved to learn French. I'm already fluent in Spanish but because one of my dreams is to one day visit France, especially Paris, I thought it would be one step closer to that dream if I learned the language. With that said, I hope each & every one of you welcome 2012 with open arms & excitement the way I am. It's going to be grand year for all of us. I deeply appreciate your business & feel you are each a part of my Peapods/Teacup Cottage family. Love to all of you & Bonne annee!!! (Happy New Year in French :)

~Say Cheese~

Instead of saying cheese, during parties we actually say "Sweet Tea". However, during photo session time we don't say either one of these. We simply laugh at my goofiness. This time of the year is my favorite time to take portraits. It's that in between time when the leaves have changed and are scattered on the ground but the grass is still green. The sun isn't as harsh in the sky either which makes lighting fantastic. The past few weekends I've been booked solid with families wanting portraits for Christmas. Each session has turned out absolutely beautiful. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head for my next sessions. I have some dates still available, so if you're interested in booking a session, email me at whitney.carmean@gmail.com. Only those wanting gorgeous portraits need apply:) I hope to see you through my lens.

~2nd Hand Chic is 1st Class~

*I've had a few conversations with people in my travels recently about 2nd hand shopping. I think when some folks hear the word "used" they think of old & yucky. Let me tell you, it's just the opposite. At Peapods we only take the best in kid's brands. We carry items from France, Italy, England, and of course our well-known brands such as Gymboree, Gap, and a host of others. Some still have the tags on them.
*One girl said, "But yea, they've been worn". Well, years ago when I worked at Hecht Company I saw many things happen to clothes purchased new. Stop and think, a majority of those clothes you've purchased have been tried on by many different people with many different hygiene standards. You try them on in the fitting room and then take your purchases home from the mall thinking it's brand new when in fact it's been tried on by at least 10 different people before you. To me that's yucky and I've seen it 1st hand. At most shops like mine, customers bring in items freshly laundered & every time I take the lid off of a container it reminds me of a Snuggle commercial. Smells great:)
*Also, while some of my customers are like me & have a set shopping budget, I've found some of the smartest shoppers who shop consignment don't necessarily need to. Some of my customers could easily fly to Paris & purchase a suitcase full of clothing spending huge amounts of money. They have great jobs and take awesome vacations several times a year. Why don't they spend huge amounts on kid's clothing? They're smart. Here's a big shopping light bulb moment...kid's clothing is a temporary purchase. While you & I can wear items for many seasons, children normally get 1 season out of a wardrobe if you're lucky. I'm not saying don't buy new ever. I purchase new items in my travels and mix them with my 2nd hand finds. I'm merely saying, 2nd hand shopping today is a totally different shopping experience than it was 20 or more years ago.
*So if you've never considered it, check it out. You'll be pleasantly surprised on how well you can dress you're children for much less. Besides the savings, it's a lot of fun too:)

I'm Thankful For....

Once Halloween is over it's time to prep for one of my favorite holidays..Thanksgiving:) This year my kids & I are going to focus on all we have to be thankful for and we're going to do so for all to see. How you ask? Well, we're going to have a "Thankful Tree" in our home. It's very easy to make. Here's what I mean:
You could adapt this idea to whatever your personal decorating style may be. I love anything modern/retro, French country, rustic, & vintage looking. My family's Thankful Tree will most likely be a very large branch I plan to secure in a heavy vintage solid wood box.I'm spray painting it all white so I can use it for Christmas as well. I also plan to cut out leaf & bird shapes from scrapbook paper instead of the little circles shown in the picture above. Larger pieces will make it easier for your kids to write on. For the smaller scale version above which would look great on a buffet table I've included the link below to a cool blog that shows how to make it. Lastly, let me just say I am thankful for all my wonderful customers who shop in my store, consign with me, and all my Teacup Cottage families who have attended or celebrated events & camp with me. You will all be on my Thankful Tree this year. Thank you.

Not Computer Saavy Like Bill Gates:(

By looking at my blog you can see there are quite a few pictures missing. Well, guess what?...I've done it again. Leave it to me to do something wrong computer-wise. I was recently invited to join Google+ by a friend to be part of a test group and I had no idea all my images for both my blogs were linked in with it so as I was trying to move the albums around I accidentally deleted them. Eventually I'll fill them all in but I'm sure some of you were wondering what happened.  Lastly, summer camp starts Monday..YAY!!!! It's going to be a blast. If your child comes to camp Monday, please make sure she has a packed lunch, snack, and at least 2 drinks. We do many activities which leaves our campers hungry & thirsty by snack time. Looking forward to seeing everyone! I'm going to get off the computer now before I mess something else up. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

~Correction~ on Camp Dates

Yesterday i posted camp dates for August incorrectly. The post below has been corrected with camp dates being August 8-12. ps..notice the lower case i....please forgive my bad capitalization. i spilled coffee on my keyboard right before i typed the incorrect dates so i'll blame it on that:) Then, after i spilled my coffee i somehow knocked the wireless adapter from the front of my computer and stepped on it.  i am the "Queen of Clumsy". However, after a bad start to my day, when i arrived to camp, my beautiful campers turned my bad day completely around. How lucky am i to go to work and see smiling faces all day? pretty lucky i think:) Hope your day goes good everyone. So far i'm off to a great start!
